Due to the complexity of the building, which combines professional headquarters alongside exhibition spaces, the company formulated a content program that defines the visit process, the organizing experience, and the use of the various spaces as part of a unified visit process that takes into account operational and operating aspects. The program is based on the comparative advantage that differentiates and positions the Israel Antiquities Authority as a "heritage enterprise."
The National Campus for the Archaeology of Israel was designed by renowned international architect Moshe Safdie and Israeli architect Irit Kochavi, and its construction lasted over a decade. The impressive 9-story building is built from the top down, from level 0 to level 9, simulating an archaeological excavation descending into the bowels of the earth. The building has two wings—a professional headquarters wing and a wing that will be open to the public displaying the activities of the Israel Antiquities Authority, which will relocate its offices to the building.
Due to the building’s complexity, which combines professional headquarters alongside exhibition spaces, the company formulated a content program that defines the visitor process, the organizing experience, and use of the various spaces as part of a unified visitor experience that takes into account management and operational aspects. The challenge was to create an innovative operating concept in an existing structure that includes also catering, commerce, and events spaces.
The program devised by the company is based on the comparative advantage that differentiates and positions the Israel Antiquities Authority as a "heritage enterprise." This is the only location in the country that will present the story of an object—from its extraction from the ground to its display in the exhibition space, and the advanced research and scientific processes it undergoes—all under one roof and in complete synergy. As part of this process, visitors are invited to take an active part in the entire process, to feel, touch, and for a moment, be partners in the important work of preserving the cultural heritage of the country.
